Not the kind of darkness you’re used to.
But something… closed.
Dense.
As if it occupied space.
I stood still.
Didn’t move.
And then I heard it.
No longer a whisper.
No longer fragmented.
Clear.
Direct.
Right beside me.
“Now you understand.”
The voice had no emotion.
No threat.
No anger.
It was a statement.
Like someone finally confirming something expected.
My body didn’t react.
Not out of courage.
But because… it no longer made a difference.
The voice continued.
Lower.
Closer.
“You took too long.”
And in that moment… something shifted.
Because it didn’t feel like I was hearing it anymore.
It felt like I was… remembering.
